What Makes Us Different?

Relationships
Our approach to estate and legacy planning is based first and foremost upon the relationships we build with our clients. Many times avoiding probate or saving taxes motivates clients to seek our assistance. However, through sensitive dialogue that involves focused listening on our part, we learn what is really important to our clients.

Sometimes we learn about complex family relationships that, if left unaddressed, could de-rail attainment of the client's goals. We may hear concerns about the son who spends too freely or the daughter with substance abuse problems. We may find that a grandchild has special needs, and is receiving governmental benefits that will cease if assets are not left to him properly.

In short, while taxes and probate avoidance may impel clients to seek our services, the estate plan they design with our help will address these and many more fundamental concerns. Our listening and counseling skills, combined with our clients' desire to provide for themselves and their loved ones in the most meaningful way possible, forms the strong foundation upon which our clients’ estate plans are built.

Education
An important component of the services we provide is the educational approach we take. We believe that people are able to make better decisions when they understand both the issues that their unique blend of circumstances raise, and the solutions being proposed to them. At Morgan Law Center, we strive to ensure that our clients are able to make good, sound decisions. We take the time to lead our clients through a detailed review of all of their assets, we encourage them to thoroughly discuss with us not only their current family issues, but also their fears, goals, and desires for themselves and their loved ones, and we explain each technique we suggest and step we perform in a manner that is understandable and free from “legalese.”

In addition to the estate planning workshops Teresa provides to our clients and community, she regularly teaches estate planning, probate, and trust settlement to other attorneys and professionals through the National Business Institute. She has been a guest lecturer for The Florida Bar’s General Practice, Solo, and Small Firm Convention, and has taught law courses at both Tallahassee Community College and Lake City Community College.

Legacy Protection Program
Many things change during our lifetime that warrant an update of our estate plans. Our families change, our assets change, laws change, etc. Many estate plans don’t accomplish the maker’s desires because he or she failed to update the plan on a regular basis. Our formal updating program, the Legacy Protection Program, resolves the problems that can and will occur if your plan is not updated regularly.

As a member of our Legacy Protection Program, we will change or update your estate plan as often as you reasonably desire. Further, every two years, we encourage all of our LPP clients to come in for an estate plan review during which we review their assets and all of the details of their estate plan. We then make any changes to the estate plan that are desired. Even if the member does not request any changes, we prepare new, updated estate planning documents that reflect the latest changes in law and reflect any new provisions we have added to our estate planning documents.

Because we have provided regular maintenance “check-ups” to our LPP clients’ plans, we recognize that post-death administration of the plans will be much easier and smoother. Accordingly, should the client’s family desire to hire our office to handle the post-death administration of the plan, we provide such services for a reduced fee.

Team Approach
We have chosen to call our firm a center for estate and legacy planning because that title accurately reflects one of the greatest benefits we provide to our clients. We recognize that the best service a client can receive is service that is provided by a team of professionals and para-professionals who are educated, trained, and dedicated to helping them solve their unique problems. For this reason, we not only work internally as a team, but we also call upon other professionals to join our team when the need for their expertise arises.
